The he in her can simply mean without a woman the man becomes inexistent, this is based on nature rule or application. On the other hand women can achieve a lot when men start seeing them as their equals.
VISION STATEMENT
There are still gender inequalities in sport which place women in a disadvantaged position, this results in less participation by women in sport as well low self-esteem and confidence. There seem to be less effort invested in enhancing and developing women within the sport fraternity. This program seeks to address the hegemonic masculinity in our province particularly in sport through comprehensive program of women in more especially male dominated sporting code such as boxing. Sport can demonstrate a positive effect on improving gender relations. This includes opportunities for women particularly youth to gain self-esteem and confidence, have constructive interactions with men and challenge unequal gender norms. However, sport can contribute to the exclusion of women and further root male hegemony by making women feel like they are not strong enough and cannot perform as great as men.
NEEDS ANALYSIS
There is an intensive need for women(youth) to participate in boxing more especially under the frame of development in sport. The program seeks to ensure that women participate in tournament that aims to develop their skill and encourages them to continue participating.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
- To give the same opportunities to women as men
- Redress the gender inequalities in sport
- Educate women about the importance of participating in sport
- Eradicate the hegemonic mentality in society about women participating in masculine sport
- Address gate-keeping in sport
- Woman empowerment in sport in accordance with the National Development Plan
METHODOLOGY
The targeted population for this program is the youth female boxers and female technical (referee and judges and coaches). A tournament will be organized for the latter mentioned in order to upgrade their skills and further enjoy themselves.
